I once read that Nelson Mandela started studying the Afrikaans after they had sentenced him to life imprisonment.

That blew my mind. I'm not sure I'd have had the same response after being placed in a similar situation.

But building that mental bridge was probably the gift that helped Mandela make it out alive...

I feel like so many of us crawl under the bridge where it’s cold and damp, not to mention crowded. Easy to squabble, fight and feel divided.

Brothers and sisters aren’t your muscles tired from crouching in too small spaces for too long… breathing in mold and God knows what?

Why don’t you venture out… see the riverbank… dip your toes in healing waters.

Better still, we could unite arms, and march heart in hand over the bridge… our footsteps connecting opposite banks… our faces beaming with love.
